Tribulations of Ice Cream

Well, I bought ice cream over the weekend. Oops. I have today off from work. I told myself I was NOT going to touch the ice cream all day. What did I eat first thing this morning? Too small bowls of the stuff. Not a good start to the day.

Recapping of the weekend:

Saturday started out great. I had a green smoothie which consisted of spinach, frozen strawberries and mango. The husband and I went to the gym where I completed week 3 of Couch to 5K.

I had maybe about 6 flax chips from Trader Joe's before we headed off to a party in the park in the afternoon. At the park I had a bowl of fruit. Too bad there was salt or something on the fruit. These people just can't eat plain food. Then I had some rice, some sort of meat kabob, oily vegetables, chicken curry and dal with egg in it. I really didn't have that much food. I thought I was going to make it through the day without having any pop, but I got nervous and just poured myself a glass of 7up. It gave me a headache almost immediately. Then I had a headache in the morning the next day and I have a headache this morning. I really have to figure out what gives me headaches in the morning.

Dinner on Saturday night was Combo meal #5 from Taco Bell, which is Nachos BellGrande, a Supreme soft taco and a giant glass of drink. I had lemonade. This meal is well over 1000 calories. To top it off I had two small bowls of ice cream. Go me!!

Sunday morning, I'm sure I had several bites of ice cream in the morning. I made myself and the husband a pepper, onion and cheese omelet. I had a slice of peanut butter toast with mine. We went on a one hour bike ride in the hill country of Edina and looked at really beautiful houses.

For lunch, all I had was one...or was it two? little pieces of southwestern Bellatoria pizza. Not recommended. I also had maybe one tiny pita pocket filled with hummus, grated carrot and a spinach leaf.

For a snack I had two little pieces of cheese cake and then chicken curry, fish curry and vegetables. Totally failed before going to bed though. I had another little piece of cheese cake and lots of ice cream while watching the Tudors.

I'll see how the rest of the day goes...

Stomach of the Rumbling

Woke up at 6:40 AM. Feet were very stiff as usual. Body kind of stiff, too. Got to work at 7:45 AM.

Breakfast: 20 oz. Strawberry Melon Tropicana drink, half of large chocolate chocolate chip muffin

Snack: 10:45 AM M&M's from vending machine for absolutely no reason. Was even feeling kind of full. The reason I left my desk at this time was to check out the healthy recipes from the healthy snack contest we recently had at work. I was not impressed with the healthfulness of any of the recipes. There were hardly any fruits or vegetables in any of them. The recipe that won was for vegan zucchini muffins. The other recipes consisted of things like pretzels, popcorn, coconut cake and feta and olives. I took a recipe for "Beany Bites" which is mainly chickpeas mashed into a little patties with Indian spices. It was seriously the healthiest recipe there.

Lunch: quinoa salad and half a tuna sandwich. The quinoa salad was quinoa cooked in chicken broth, red, yellow and orange sweet peppers, green onions and black beans. I don't really like peppers or raw onion for that matter. I'm trying to learn to like red bell peppers. I did NOT visit the vending machine after lunch. This is very unusual for me. My mouth is watering right now because I know there are chips in a drawer here at work. But I am resisting.

(Editing the rest of this post Monday, June 28 morning)

I did not resist when I got home. I had a single serving bag of Doritos when I got home from work. We weren't sure where we wanted to go to eat, or if we should go to the gym. Suddenly, it began to storm. Unknowlingly to me, the husband had gone outside to do something in the garage. (probably smoke). I didn't know it at the time. It started getting really windy and hailing. I ran all over the house calling for him. Finally he came inside. I was really mad. haha

Dinner: 6 inch chicken breast sub from Subway. I can' t remember what else I ate. Oh yeah, probably another very large muffin.
